Zambia participates in the global climate change conference
The Minister of Lands Hon. Jean Kapata has informed the Climate Change Confernce that Zambia has put in place a national climate change policy which highlights the institutional framework that clearly sets out parameters for climate change coordination and implementation in the country. She also informed the conference that the Government of Zambia has integrated climate change issues in the 7NDP and that allows for a nationwide coordinated response in combating climate change. The enshrining of adaptation and mitigation measures in the plan underscores the Governments commitment to tackling climate changes issues in an integrated manner.
She has called upon the developed countries to support countries like Zambia to implement climate change programmes.
The Zambian delegation includes Permanent Secretary for Development Planning Mr. Chola Chabala and Ministry of Lands Permanent Secretary Mr Kellies Kaunda.
